Residential Fire

On Monday at 1:10 PM, Scott Fire Department was dispatched to the 100 block of Des Jacques Road for a residential fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke emitting from the home. Firefighters entered the structure in an effort to search for any possible victims and locate the seat of the fire. Once inside, firefighters observed moderate fire in one of the bedrooms, which was quickly brought under control. A victim search revealed that no one was inside the structure.

Investigators with Lafayette Fire Department are conducting an investigation into the exact cause of the fire; an intentionally set fire has not been ruled out.

The bedroom received major fire damage, while the remainder of the home received moderate smoke damage.

No firefighters were injured during the incident.

Duson and Judice Fire Departments responded to assist.
