Residential Fire

On Wednesday at 11:48 a.m., Scott Fire Department was dispatched to a residential fire in the 300 block of Latin Drive. Upon arrival, firefighters made entry into the structure where they located a fire in the living room area, which was quickly brought under control.

An investigation into the incident revealed that a fire began as a result of an overloaded outlet.

The living room received moderate damage as a result of the fire, while the rest of the home was

undamaged.

Carencro and Duson Fire Departments responded to assist.

No firefighters or civilians were injured as a result of the incident.

Due to the extreme heat, many people are utilizing window AC units to cool their homes. Scott Fire Officials would like to remind everyone, if you are utilizing a window AC unit, place it on a dedicated circuit to prevent overloading and reduce the risk of electrical fires.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if I can assist in any way.
